At the La Fenice theater there is a conference with video projections by Franco Bolletta, artistic and organizational manager of dance activities. In homage to the Russian composer, Petrushka is presented.
Petrushka is a four-stage ballet with music by Igor Stravinsky composed between 1910 and 1911. It was one of the first creations of the choreographer Michel Fokine made for Sergej Djagilev’s “Ballets Russes” company. The story is based on the homonymous character of the Russian tradition, a puppet with a body of sawdust and a wooden head, who comes to life and manages to feel feelings.
Approached to the figures of Pierrot and Pinocchio, Petrushka is the melancholy puppet of popular theater, always present at fairs. Also in this work, the place of action is the fair in Saint Petersburg and the story of love and jealousy of 3 puppets is told. Besides Petrushka, the other two puppets are the Ballerina and the Moor, brought to life by the Charlatan.
