Swan Lake is one of the most famous and acclaimed ballets of the 19th century, set to music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Presented in 2011 during the New Year’s Eve at the Grimaldi Forum in Munich, the ballet keeps the three-act partition of the most famous version of Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov to the much-loved music of the Russian composer, but the “cards” are shuffled.
Jean-Christophe Maillot revisits “Swan Lake” with writer Jean Rouaud, winner of the 1990 Prix Goncourt. This modern interpretation of the classic ballet sheds new light on the mythic tale of Siegfried and Odette. Igor Dronov is the conductor of the La Fenice theater orchestra. The performance lasts about 2 hours, including one interval.
