Until January 31, 2022, it will be possible to visit at the Giorgio Cini Foundation on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, the exhibition “Ghiribizzi“, dedicated to the graphic production of Gillo Dorfles. Curated by Aldo Colonetti and Luigi Sansone, the exhibition is organized in collaboration with the Gillo Dorfles Cultural Association, and represents an imagined return of Dorfles to the Cini Foundation, which he often visited as a critic.
The rich exhibition includes 22 works of which 21 drawings never exhibited before and the painting “Vitriol“, acronym of the Latin phrase “Visita Interiora Terrae Rectificando Invenies Occultum Lapidem”, made in 2010. In addition to the famous painting, to be noted the drawing with the Latin saying “Si ova struthionis sol excubare valet cur veri solis ope Virgo non generaret?”.
Accompanying the exhibition are his first book “Technical discourse of the arts” of 1952, and the last “My America” of 2018. Closing the exhibition are two photographs that portray Dorfles: one by Fabrizio Garghetti from 2010 while he is painting in Paestum, and the other one by Carlo Orsi from 2016, which shows him in his living room at the piano.
