Frédéric Chaslin conducts works by Bernstein and Tchaikovsky on January 8 and 9, 2022 at Teatro La Fenice together with violinist Francesca Dego
Conductor, composer, pianist and writer, Frédéric Chaslin was born in Paris where he studied at the conservatory. After his studies at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, he began his career as assistant conductor to Daniel Barenboim in Paris and Bayreuth. In 1991 he was assistant to Pierre Boulez in the Ensemble Intercontemporain in Paris. In the following years he was appointed Music Director at the Opera of Rouen (1991-94), at the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra (1998-2001), at the Nationaltheater of Mannheim (2004-2007), at the Opera of Santa Fe (2009- 2013) and for the second time at the Jerusalem Symphony (2011-2019). Active both in opera and symphony, Frédéric Chaslin has conducted in the most prestigious theaters of the international opera scene: Metropolitan in New York, Los Angeles Opera, Deutsche Oper in Berlin, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich as well as in Leipzig, Dresden, Madrid, Bologna, Rome, Venice, Turin, Tokyo, Oslo, Copenhagen.
Francesca Dego participates in the concert show, one of the most sought-after young violinists on the international scene, celebrated for her sonorous timbre, her engaging interpretations and her impeccable technique.
The program includes:
- Leonard Bernstein, Serenade for Violin, String Orchestra, Harp and Percussion
- Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Symphony No. 6 in B minor Pathétique
The concert will be preceded by a free admission meeting with the musicologist Roberto Mori, who will illustrate the musical program in the Sale Apollinee of the Teatro La Fenice from 7.20 to 7.40 pm.
