On stage from April 12th to 14th at the Goldoni Theatre in Venice, directed by Andrée Ruth Shammah, the comedy “Il delitto di via dell’Orsina” is an adaptation of the French text “L’affaire de la rue de Lourcine” by Eugène Labiche, translated by Shammah herself together with Giorgio Melazzi.
With irony and precision, “Il delitto di via dell’Orsina” is a comedy that succeeds in making its way through the frenzy and worries that accompany the present and to spend a fun and light evening.
Plot: A man wakes up and finds a stranger in bed. They are both very thirsty, their hands are dirty and their pockets full of coal but they don’t know why. They don’t remember anything from the previous night. Slowly, the two try to piece together what happened, but the only thing they are certain of is that they were both at a high school alumni party. What happened when they left the gathering, they know nothing about. From a newspaper they learn that a young coal-woman died that night. Among a series of misunderstandings, the possibility that the two have committed that heinous murder comes up. A paradoxical situation, a bit Beckettian and brilliantly constructed. A great little masterpiece to discover what those two bunglers Zancopè and Mistenghi have done last night.
Protagonists of the story, two talented and lively actors: Massimo Dapporto and Antonello Fassari. In the cast also: Susanna Marcomeni, Marco Balbi, Andrea Soffiantini, Christian Pradella, Luca Cesa-Bianchi. Sets are by Margherita Palli, lights by Camilla Piccioni, while music is performed by Alessandro Nidi.
