Saturday, July 9, 2022 will be staged in Piazza San Marco the cantata “Carmina Burana” by Carl Orff. There will be the orchestra of the Fenice Theatre conducted by Fabio Luisi, the choir directed by choirmaster Alfonso Caiani, accompanied by the “Piccoli Cantori Veneziani” directed by choirmaster Diana D’Alessio, the soprano Regula Mühlemann, the tenor Michael Schade and the baritone Markus Werba.

“Carmina Burana” is a scenic cantata composed by Carl Orff between 1935 and 1936, and is based on 24 poems found in the medieval collection of the same name, a work by goliards and clerici vagantes. The full title is “Carmina burana: Cantiones profanae cantoribus et choris cantandae comitantibus instrumentis atque imaginibus magicis“.
