“On Fire” is the title of the first exhibition entirely dedicated to the use of fire as a means of artistic creation among the post-World War II avant-garde movements. Curated by Bruno Corà with the contribution of Luca Massimo Barbero, and promoted by the Giorgio Cini Foundation and Tornabuoni Art, the exhibition brings together a careful selection of the most iconic works made with fire or that include the presence of the flame itself.
The exhibition at the Giorgio Cini Foundation on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore is structured in six sections that allow you to discover, for the first time next to each other, the artists Yves Klein, Alberto Burri, Arman, Jannis Kounellis, Pier Paolo Calzolari and Claudio Parmiggiani grappling with fire.
Through the 26 works collected with the collaboration of the artists’ foundations and loans from important international collections, including several masterpieces never before seen or rarely shown to the public, the exhibition shows one of the most radical and unexplored linguistic revolutions in contemporary art.
