As a collateral event of the 59. International Art Exhibition – Venice Biennale 2022, the “Fondazione dell’Albero d’Oro” presents until November 27, 2022 a new and original project by Mexican artist Bosco Sodi at Palazzo Vendramin Grimani, a historic residence on the Grand Canal in Venice.
Curated by Daniela Ferretti and Dakin Hart, the solo exhibition dedicated to Sodi’s paintings and sculptures, entitled “Bosco Sodi at Palazzo Vendramin Grimani. What Goes Around Comes Around” proposes an abrupt reversal of that ancient flow of trade between Europe and the Americas.
The opulent interiors of mercantile residences such as Palazzo Vendramin Grimani preserve the memory of what was historically a one-way flow of materials. The artist’s temporary occupation of the palace’s walls and floors with works closely connected to the material instinct that produced them thus leads to a kind of ‘revenge’ of the raw.
