Impossible Dreams

Impossible Dreams at Palazzo delle Prigioni
Taiwan in Venice 2022
Impossible Dreams

Impossible Dreams” is the collateral event of the 59th International Art Exhibition, Venice Biennale, open until November 27 at the Palazzo delle Prigioni.

The exhibition reflects the presentation of important Taiwanese cultural contexts and perspectives through a wide range of contemporary art that harshly and decisively responds to the urgencies of history, society and ordinary life. The word impossible in its title means “not yet possible” and is a description of the status quo and a hope for better things, people, and worlds to come. Like dreams created through trauma and bodies and spirits wandering through different realms, the project is a work of memory and conversation.

The exhibition consists of two parts: an archival display and public events, which are mutually interacting platforms. Curated by the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, the “archival display” revisits the historical contexts and viewpoints of the previous 13 editions of the Taiwan Exhibition at the Venice Biennale. Convened by Philippine senior curator Patrick Flores, the “public events” include four thematic forums, responding to current issues addressed by international communities in a pluralistic manner with multinational participation.
