The exhibition “Trees Grow from the Sky” by Czech artist Rony Plesl presents a large-scale site-specific installation of glass sculptures in the historic Church of Santa Maria della Visitazione. Designed specifically for the Venice Biennale, it represents the world debut of Vitrum Vivum, a revolutionary new technology. The sculptures were developed using a unique and unprecedented glass casting technology, which allows the creation of grandiose glass sculptures without any limitations.
Curated by Lucie Drdova, an art historian, gallery owner and author based in Prague, with the support of House of Art Ceske Budejovice, the exhibition is one of the collateral events of the 59th edition of the Venice Art Biennale, open until November 27, 2022.
The exhibition coincides with the International Year of Glass proclaimed by the United Nations in 2022, thus presenting a timely artistic and technological exploration of the material.
