As part of the International Women’s Rights Day, artists of the Académie de l’Opéra National de Paris perform at the Palazzetto Bru Zane.
The collaboration between the Palazzetto Bru Zane and the Académie de l’Opéra national de Paris focuses this season on melodies of the Romantic period composed by women. The melodies performed during the March 8 concert at 7:30 pm are by Marie Jaëll, Cécile Chaminade, Charlotte Sohy, Mélanie Bonis, Pauline Viardot, Rita Strohl, Nadia and Lili Boulanger.
Surely women compose melodies not unlike men, so why are their works never performed? As a result of this collaboration, this concert is also held at the Paris Opera.
Also for the cycle “Women Composers” at 5:30 p.m. speaker Fiorella Sassanelli gives the lecture “Être femme et devenir quelque chose“, about the stories of women composers Rita Strohl, Henriette Renié and Marie Jäell. Admission to the lecture is free, but reservations are required.
