On May 10, 2025, the Auditorium Lo Squero will host the concert “Nuovi romantici – Bizet and His Contemporaries” as part of the Cycle Bizet, l’oiseau rebelle. Featuring the exceptional talents of the Académie de l’Opéra national de Paris, this program celebrates the profound connections between Georges Bizet and the leading composers of his era.
Georges Bizet was not only a musical prodigy but also deeply connected to the romantic generation. As a student and son-in-law of Fromental Halévy, a close confidant of Charles Gounod, and a peer of luminaries like Camille Saint-Saëns and Jules Massenet, Bizet’s artistry was shaped by both his mentors and contemporaries. This program highlights these bonds, offering a glimpse into the friendships and artistic exchanges that defined Bizet’s career.
Through a selection of mélodies, this concert explores the rich, lyrical tradition of 19th-century French music, presenting works by Bizet alongside pieces by his mentors and peers.
The concert will feature performances by:
- Sima Ouahman (soprano)
- Amandine Portelli (mezzo-soprano)
- Bergsvein Toverud (tenor)
- Clemens Frank (baritone)
- Robin Le Bervet and Moeka Ueno (piano)
Join this evening of exquisite music, where the bonds of mentorship, collaboration, and shared artistry come alive through the voices and instruments of tomorrow’s operatic stars.
