In collaboration with “Musicàmera,” internationally acclaimed pianist Alexander Gadjiev returns to the prestigious Sale Apollinee of La Fenice Opera House for two evocative recitals on May 27 and 28, 2025. Known for his poetic touch and intellectual depth, Gadjiev presents a program that explores a rich palette of emotional and stylistic nuances, from impressionist whispers to modernist brilliance.
The evening opens with Claude Debussy’s selections from Preludes, Book 2—a set of atmospheric miniatures that showcase his refined coloristic approach to the piano. Thomas Adès’ Traced Overhead, a contemporary work of shimmering textures and ethereal gestures, offers a striking contrast, followed by *Béla Bartók’s In the Open Air, a vivid musical portrait of nature and folk-infused rhythms. Robert Schumann’s late cycle Gesänge der Frühe (Songs of Dawn), Op. 133, evokes a deeply introspective mood, leading to the powerful finale: Sergej Rachmaninov’s monumental Sonata No. 2 in B-flat Major, Op. 36, a tour de force of Romantic expression and technical brilliance.
Born in 1994 in Gorizia, Italy, to a family of musicians, Alexander Gadjiev studied in Salzburg and Berlin and gained international recognition by winning the 2021 Sydney International Piano Competition and receiving top honors at the Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw. A pianist of rare sensitivity and artistry, Gadjiev is quickly establishing himself as one of the leading voices of his generation on the global concert stage.
