An evening dedicated to the next generation of Italian jazz: on July 2, 2025, in the Sale Apollinee of La Fenice Opera House, two rising stars of the national jazz scene take the stage as part of the “Venezia Jazz Festival”. The spotlight is on Lorenzo Simoni 4tet and Elimi, winners of the Tomorrow’s Jazz Award promoted by Veneto Jazz—a prestigious recognition for the most promising young talents in contemporary jazz.
The Lorenzo Simoni 4tet is led by saxophonist Lorenzo Simoni and completed by Guglielmo Santimone on piano, Giulio Scianatico on double bass, and Simone Brilli on drums. The group’s music reflects a modern jazz vocabulary influenced by post-bop, with a lyrical yet daring approach to improvisation. Their performances are marked by tight interplay and a sophisticated sense of balance between tradition and innovation.
Elimi, hailing from Sicily, blends jazz with Mediterranean colors and folk influences. Led by vocalist Grazia Buffa, with Giovanni Balistreri on tenor sax, Francesco Di Giovanni on guitar, Vito Vulpetti on electric bass, and Roberto Provenzano on drums, the ensemble explores evocative soundscapes that combine melodic storytelling with rhythmic experimentation. Their music is both introspective and dynamic, a vibrant expression of cultural roots reinterpreted through jazz language.
This concert promises a night of fresh perspectives, creative dialogue, and the thrilling energy of the new Italian jazz scene.
