The 19th edition of the International Festival of Contemporary Dance (Biennale Danza 2025) returns to Venice from July 17 to August 2, 2025, under the visionary direction of Wayne McGregor, one of the most innovative and interdisciplinary choreographers of our time.

This year’s Festival promises to be a vibrant celebration of movement, creation, and innovation, featuring an extraordinary program of over 75 events across the iconic venues of Ca’ Giustinian and the Arsenale. Audiences will experience a wide-ranging offering of live performances, art and technology crossovers, installations, workshops, and conversations, shaping a dynamic and immersive artistic landscape.

The 2025 edition showcases:

  • 8 world premieres
  • 7 European premieres
  • 5 Italian premieres
  • Over 160 artists participating

At the heart of the Festival is Biennale College Danza, an essential platform for education and professional training, seamlessly integrated into the main program. Young dancers and emerging talents will work alongside renowned choreographers and mentors, highlighting the Festival’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of contemporary dance artists.

At the suggestion of artistic director Wayne McGregor, the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement was awarded to American choreographer Twyla Tharp. The Silver Lion goes to Brazilian performer, author and director Carolina Bianchi. The awards will be presented during the Festival.
