Kent Nagano

On October 31 and November 2, 2025, La Fenice Opera House welcomes one of the most acclaimed conductors of our time, Kent Nagano, to lead the Orchestra of Teatro La Fenice in a program that bridges the elegance of the French Baroque, the youthful brilliance of Schubert, and the refined humor of Richard Strauss.

The evening opens with Jean-Baptiste Lully’s Suite from Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme, a sparkling work that embodies the grandeur and wit of 17th-century French court music. This is followed by Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 3 in D major, D. 200, composed when the Austrian genius was just eighteen. Fresh, luminous, and full of rhythmic vitality, the symphony showcases Schubert’s emerging mastery and lyricism.

The program culminates with Richard Strauss’s Der Bürger als Edelmann, Op. 60, a brilliant suite adapted from his incidental music for Molière’s play The Bourgeois Gentleman. Here, Strauss pays homage to Lully while infusing the score with his own lush orchestral palette and sparkling wit. Adding to the evening’s brilliance, Roberto Baraldi will perform the violin solo with elegance and expressive power.

On Friday, October 31, audiences are also invited to a free pre-concert talk in the Sale Apollinee with musicologist Roberto Mori, who will guide listeners through the evening’s musical journey.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to experience Kent Nagano’s artistry at La Fenice, where history, interpretation, and orchestral brilliance converge.
