On November 28 and 29, 2025, the Teatro La Fenice Orchestra, joined by the Chorus of Teatro La Fenice prepared by Chorus Master Alfonso Caiani, will open the new symphony season under the baton of internationally acclaimed conductor Ivor Bolton.
The program celebrates the depth and lyricism of Johannes Brahms, featuring three of his masterpieces:
- Variations on a Theme by Joseph Haydn, Op. 56a — a radiant tribute to Brahms’ musical predecessors.
- Das Schicksalslied (Song of Destiny), Op. 54 — an evocative choral-orchestral work contrasting human suffering with the divine serenity of the Elysian spirits.
- Symphony No. 3 in F major, Op. 90 — Brahms’ most personal symphony, imbued with autumnal warmth and an expressive balance of passion and restraint.
Ivor Bolton is one of today’s most versatile conductors, admired for his refined interpretations of both symphonic and operatic repertoire. He is Music Director of the Teatro Real in Madrid, Chief Conductor of the Basel Symphony Orchestra, and Conductor Laureate of the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, where he led the orchestra for over a decade. Equally at home in opera houses and concert halls, Bolton has conducted at prestigious venues including the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Bayerische Staatsoper, and Glyndebourne Festival. His artistry is marked by historical awareness, clarity of style, and an instinctive musicality that has won him international recognition.
Join La Fenice Opera House for an unforgettable evening of Brahms and the launch of a brilliant new symphonic season.
