The ABISSI International Underwater Photography Competition celebrates the success of its eleventh edition thanks to the 100 participants from 14 different countries who have presented about 460 spectacular photographs taken in the seas all over the world.
Until November 4th 2018, 30 beautiful shots, selected by an international jury of experts in the field, formed by David Salvatori, Marcello Di Francesco and Davide Lopresti, will be exhibited in the suggestive context of the Cetacean Gallery in the Natural History Museum of Venice.
The novelty of this year’s photo contest is the new contest IUPY – Italian Photographer of the Year – dedicated to the best Italian photographer. The participants presented each a Portfolio of three underwater photos that will be evaluated by a team of judges of international prestige such as Amos Nachoum (Isr), Mirko Zanni (Ch), Plamena Mileva (Bul), and Rafael Fernandez Caballero (Spa), current world champion of Underwater Photography. Thanks to the massive participation of foreign photographers the Venice competition, organized by the Abissi Underwater Photo Venice Association, led by Davide Barzazzi, Agnese Zane, Alessandro Tagliapietra supported by the precious support of Stefano Cerbai, Narciso Devy Mantovan of Isamar Diving Center, Club Sub San Marco and Gruppo Argo, stands at the top of international events.
The award ceremony took place on Saturday October 27th 2018. The first 3 of each category and the honorable mentions were awarded. As usual, the public also voted for the favorite photo among those shown through the museum’s facebook page.
VéVé Glass, historical partner of the event, represented by the glass master Stefano Birello, has awarded the winners in the “Compact Mediterranean Macro” category and in the “Compact Mediterranean Wideangle” category. Congratulations!
