As part of the Venezia Jazz Festival, on June 14, 2025, the Sale Apollinee of Teatro La Fenice will host a unique and intimate concert: “Lontano”, performed by the acclaimed duo Anja Lechner and François Couturier.

Known for their genre-defying artistry, Lechner and Couturier create music that dissolves boundaries. “Lontano” is more than a concert—it’s a sonic journey where classical tradition, jazz sensibility, and global influences converge in a deeply poetic dialogue. The duo seamlessly weaves together original compositions, free improvisations, and evocative interpretations of works by Henri Dutilleux, Giya Kancheli, and Anouar Brahem, while also drawing inspiration from sources as varied as Bach cantatas and Argentine folk melodies.

Their music is rooted in deep listening and emotional clarity. The concert offers listeners an experience of timeless beauty, where silences are as significant as the notes, and every phrase carries the weight of reflection.

Anja Lechner, a German cellist of exceptional range and depth, is renowned for her work across classical, contemporary, and improvised music. She has long been associated with ECM Records and is praised for her lyrical tone and interpretative intelligence.

François Couturier, a French pianist with a background in jazz and classical music, brings a sensitive and inventive touch to every collaboration. His refined aesthetic and openness to experimentation make him a sought-after voice in contemporary European music.

“Lontano” promises a moving evening of music beyond borders.
