Bassifondi Ensemble at La Fenice

concert for 300th anniversary of Scarlatti's death
at La Fenice Opera House
Bassifondi Ensemble

On November 4 and 5, 2025, the Bassifondi Ensemble takes the stage of the Sale Apollinee at La Fenice Opera House, in collaboration with Musikàmera and CIDIM, for two concerts dedicated to the genius of Alessandro Scarlatti, marking the 300th anniversary of his death.

The Ensemble is composed of three extraordinary musicians:

  • Simone Vallerotonda – theorbo, guitar, and musical direction
  • Stefano Todarello – colascione and chitarra battente
  • Gabriele Miracle – percussion

With their refined artistry and historically informed approach, Bassifondi brings to life the vibrant soundscape of 17th – and 18th -century Italy.

The centerpiece of the program will be the first modern performance of Scarlatti’s Serenade for Three Voices: Clori, Lidia, and Filli, written with violins and lute. This rediscovery offers audiences a rare opportunity to hear a hidden treasure from Scarlatti’s repertoire, a work that blends the elegance of Baroque counterpoint with the expressive intimacy of chamber music.

The concerts are not only a tribute to Scarlatti’s monumental contribution to music but also an exploration of the stylistic richness that continues to inspire musicians and audiences alike. Through the delicate interplay of plucked strings, rhythmic percussion, and lyrical voices, Bassifondi invites listeners on a journey through history—where poetry, music, and passion meet.

Don’t miss this unique celebration of Scarlatti’s timeless art in the heart of Venice.
