The 65th. International Festival of Contemporary Music – Biennale Musica 2021 – will run from September 17 to 26, 2021, directed by Lucia Ronchetti. The program will present numerous appointments focused on the dramaturgy of vocal sounds in today’s music. As usual, the activities of the Biennale College Musica will be an integral part of the Festival program.
Lucia Ronchetti (Rome, 1963) studied Composition and Electronic Music at the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia in Rome and graduated in History of Music at the University La Sapienza in Rome. She studied with Bussotti, Sciarrino, Grisey and Murail. In 2021 her productions will be staged at Oper Frankfurt, Staatsoper Berlin and Deutsche Oper am Rhein.
The Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement is awarded to Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho, one of the most performed composers in the world. The award ceremony will take place on Friday, September 17, 2021 (12 pm) at Ca’ Giustinian, headquarters of the Venice Biennale.
The Silver Lion is awarded to the Neue Vocalsolisten of Stuttgart, one of the most representative vocal ensembles dedicated to contemporary music. The award ceremony will take place on Monday, September 20, 2021 (12 pm) at Ca’ Giustinian, headquarters of the Biennale di Venezia.
