Between spirituality and history, music will once again resonate in the sacred spaces of Venice with the 15th edition of the Callido Nacchini Festival, scheduled from September 5 to 28, 2025. Over the course of twelve concerts, the festival will enliven ten churches and basilicas, offering audiences the chance to hear extraordinary historic organs performed by internationally renowned artists from Italy, Germany, Denmark, Poland, and Portugal, alongside promising young talents.
The festival opens on Friday, September 5 at 9:00 PM in the Church of the Carmini, where German organist Franz Günthner will inaugurate the season with a program spanning from the Baroque to European Romanticism. Günthner will also perform the first of four “Vespers Concerts” on Saturday, September 6 at 5:00 PM in the Basilica of San Giorgio Maggiore, in collaboration with Benedicti Claustra Onlus. The weekend continues on Sunday, September 7 at 5:00 PM in the Church of San Rocco, with a recital by Maurizio Croci, professor at HEMU, presented in collaboration with the Scuola Grande di San Rocco.
Throughout September, the festival will present concerts every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, combining organ with choirs, brass, and soloists. Highlights include the traditional two-organ concert at the Basilica dei Frari on Friday, September 26, and the “promenade concert” on Sunday, September 28, linking three historic churches. A special event is planned for Sunday, September 14 on San Servolo Island, featuring a guided tour, concert, and aperitif dedicated to its precious Nacchini organ.
Curated by Nicolò Sari, the Callido Nacchini Festival remains a bridge between worship, music, and cultural discovery, reaffirming Venice as a living capital of organ art.
