The Campiello Prize, one of Italy’s most prestigious literary awards, was established in 1962 by the Veneto industrialists with the aim of promoting Italian fiction and fostering the joy of reading. Over the decades, it has brought to light authors and novels that have left a significant mark on Italian literature, many of which have achieved great success not only through book sales but also in cinematic adaptations. Its unique system of two juries—one technical, composed of literary experts, and one popular, made up of three hundred readers—has proven a solid and democratic way of selecting winners, ensuring both critical recognition and public resonance.
The 63rd edition of the Prize will culminate with the awards ceremony on September 13, 2025, at the Teatro La Fenice, an exclusive event that combines culture, art, and society in one of the city’s most prestigious venues. The evening will celebrate the five finalist works chosen by the Jury of Literature: Nord Nord by Marco Belpoliti (Einaudi), Di spalle a questo mondo by Wanda Marasco (Neri Pozza), Inverness by Monica Pareschi (Polidoro), Troncamacchioni by Alberto Prunetti (Feltrinelli), and Bebelplatz by Fabio Stassi (Sellerio).
In addition, the Campiello Prize – First Work has already been awarded to Antonio Galetta for Pietà (Einaudi), honoring a promising new voice in Italian literature. The ultimate winner of the 2025 Campiello Prize will be determined by the Jury of Three Hundred Readers, whose anonymous electronic votes will decide which of the five finalists earns the coveted recognition and the accompanying ten-thousand-euro award.
