Recently launched, the exhibition is part of the “Ospiti in Galleria” (Guests in the Gallery) exhibition series, dedicated to exchanges of works with other organizations or museums. The exhibition aims to become a recurring appointment that generates new links with works and themes present in the Ca’ d’Oro collections and offers the opportunity to combine a visit to the museum with itineraries and other initiatives extended to the territory.
In full harmony with the Venice 1600 celebrations, the 2021 stage is centered on Canaletto’s famous view of the Molo (pier) to the West End with the Zecca (Venice mint), the column of San Teodoro and the Basilica della Salute in the background (courtesy of Pinacoteca del Castello Sforzesco, Milan).
The work is exhibited at Ca’ d’Oro and compared with a view of identical subject by Francesco Guardi (Franchetti Collection), which the museum owns. A subject closely linked to the lagoon iconography and the story of the city and its history, through two “still images” of absolute protagonists of the eighteenth century of urban landscape painting.
