VeneziainDanza 2025 returns for its 17th edition under the artistic direction of Michela Barasciutti, bringing to Venice some of the most exciting voices in international dance. On Saturday, November 29, the stage of the Teatro Malibran will host the National Ballet of Kosovo with an ambitious production of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, choreographed by Toni Candeloro.
A monumental work that unites music, movement, and spectacle, Carmina Burana is reimagined through Candeloro’s choreography, enriched by costumes designed by Candeloro and Sanije Imeraj, lighting by Marco Policastro, and a striking laser project by Florian Canga. This fusion of traditional and contemporary stagecraft underscores the raw energy and ritual intensity of Orff’s score, creating a performance both powerful and immersive.
The production will feature acclaimed soloists, including Antonella Albano of Teatro alla Scala, alongside Sead Vuniqi, Fatmir Smani, Behie Murtezi, and Leonora Rexhepi, supported by an outstanding corps de ballet. The ensemble’s strength lies in its dynamic range: lyrical elegance and collective force, delicacy and dramatic power.
Founded in 1972, the National Ballet of Kosovo stands today as the country’s premier professional dance institution. Emerging within the National Theatre of Kosovo in Pristina, it has cultivated a national ballet tradition while presenting Kosovo’s cultural voice on leading international stages. Guided by a vision of excellence, collaboration, and innovation, the company continues to honor its heritage while embracing bold new creative directions.
With Carmina Burana, VeneziainDanza 2025 offers audiences an evening of passion, intensity, and artistic excellence in the heart of Venice.
