The regional direction of Musei Veneto and the Central Institute for Catalogue and Documentation (ICCD) of the Italian Ministry of Culture, together with the International Gallery of Modern Art Ca’ Pesaro open the photographic exhibition “Claudio Gobbi. An Atlas of Persistence“, curated by Francesca Fabiani.

The exhibition features two photographic projects. The first one is about the interiors of 20th century theaters throughout Europe, tracing a geography of the continent with over 25 countries. The second one is about the typological persistence of Armenian churches, even outside the historic borders.

Gobbi explains: «One of the central themes of my work is the search for recurring characteristics that can be considered as elements that define a certain type of culture. In the theaters, Japanese gardens or Armenian churches, the main goal is to find an image that represents evidence of a specific community, a symbol of belonging or the sign of a cultural boundary».

Falling under the ICCD OFF SITE label, the exhibition is the first appointment of a program of events and exhibitions that will find its showcase in various Venetian cultural venues, and is the result of a successful collaboration between institutional partners who have opened a line of confrontation on photography topic. The scientific committee is composed by Carlo Birrozzi, Marta Boscolo Marchi, Luca del Prete, Francesca Fabiani, Daniele Ferrara.
