Dee Dee Bridgewater
with "J'ai Deux Amours" at the Teatro La Fenice

On July 8th the great jazz voice pays homage to France for the Venezia Jazz Festival. Dee Dee Bridgewater is the protagonist of the 12th edition of the Venice Jazz Festival, organized by Veneto Jazz in collaboration with the Teatro La Fenice. With Ira Coleman (bass), Louis Winsberg (guitar), Marc Berthoumieux (accordion), Minino Garay (percussion), the great voice of jazz brings “J’ai Deux Amours” to the stage at 8 pm.

With this project, Dee Dee Bridgewater pays tribute to what has been her home for 17 years, France, with a series of songs closely related to the career and life of Josephine Baker, the famous American naturalized French performer. The concert also celebrates famous chansonniers of the time such as Edith Piaf and Charles Trenet.

“J’ai Deux Amours” is also the Dee Dee Bridgewater album released in 2005, which owes its title to the song played by Baker herself. In 2008, for this project, Dee Dee was awarded the prestigious French title of “Commandeur Dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres” and later also also of “Officier de la Légion d’Honneur”.

Along the course of his multi-faceted career, which spans four decades, jazz legend Dee Dee Bridgewater has reached the highest musical levels, giving us a unique and intrepid interpretation of jazz classics. Traveler, explorer, pioneer and guardian of tradition, she has been awarded with Tony Awards and three times with the Grammy Award: twice for the highly acclaimed tribute to Ella Fitzgerald, Dear Ella, and the last in 2011 for the album dedicated to Billie Holiday Eleanora Fagan (1915-1959): To Billie With Love From Dee Dee, as Best Jazz Vocal Album.

Venezia Jazz Festival is organized by Veneto Jazz, realized in collaboration with Teatro La Fenice, Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, Veneto Region, City of Venice and with the support of Despar and Classic Boats Venice. Special partner: Splendid Venice Hotel. Media partner of the festival: Venezia News. The artistic direction is by Giuseppe Mormile.
