The concert season of Musikàmera continues with the duo Tommaso Lonquich (clarinet) and Claudio Martinez Mehner (piano).
Born in Germany in 1970, Claudio Martínez Mehner began studying the piano at the Real Conservatorio de Música in Madrid. He finished his studies in Madrid in 1989 with the title of Superior Professor of Piano and the Honor Award. He continues his studies at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid, the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg (Germany), the Como Piano Foundation (Italy) and at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore (United States). He is currently professor at the Musikakademie in Basel and at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne.
Among the most popular musicians of his generation, Tommaso Lonquich is one of the most sought-after clarinetists of our day. He has performed in the most important halls in the world, including Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall (New York), Auditorio Nacional (Madrid), Gran Liceu (Barcelona), Salle Pleyel (Paris), the Pauline Chapel of the Quirinale (Rome), Tivoli (Copenhagen) and Suntory Hall (Tokyo). Acclaimed as a “formidable clarinetist”, Tommaso Lonquich is solo clarinet in the MidtVest Ensemble and a member of the prestigious Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in New York.
