The custom-made craftsmanship of Murano glass

handmade murano glass processing

Over the centuries, the processing of Murano glass has evolved in terms of type of work, equipment, and artistic techniques, but it has always remained a handmade craft.

The quality and the beauty of the workmanship, the refinement of the decorations, the brilliance of the colors and the atmosphere of the creations are due to the quality of the raw materials and to the deep knowledge of the Glass Masters who are able to transform a shapeless glass mass melted at a thousand and four hundred degrees into objects with a wonderful appearance.

VéVé Glass Masters work Murano glass with the technique of glass fusion: it is a very ancient technique, similar to the working of glass mosaic. According to the decoration that you want to obtain, sections of glass of different sizes and colors are meticulously placed on a support plate, often crystal, and melted in an electric oven in order to obtain a multicolored glass plate. On the plate thus obtained can be arranged further flakes and / or grits of glass of different colors that blend with the basic support. The operation can be repeated several times overlapping the colors and creating a three-dimensional decoration that can be flat or shaped into various forms thanks to the use of special molds suitable for this type of processing.

This technique, appreciated by architects and interior designers for its finesse and the innate value of furnishing any environment with simplicity, takes a turn for the better by adding to the cut glass, according to the type of design chosen, elements such as precious gold and silver leaves, the traditional Venetian murrine, the richness of filigree, zanfirico and reticello.

Since the end of the last century, the glass masters have refined their working techniques and are able to follow the developments of contemporary artists‘ movements, dedicating themselves both to sophisticated craftsmanship and to the experiments proper to art, respecting the tradition that makes Murano glass a unique, prestigious and inimitable product.

The art of our glass Masters consists in knowing how to design, choosing, combining and meticulously arranging the glass sections, and to give life to creations, very often “custom-made”, with the most varied shapes: sculptures, centerpieces, wall panels, mirrors, decorative tiles, glass dividers and, thanks to the modular processing, even medium and large sizes.

Choosing VéVé Glass artworks, the customer is guaranteed to buy a product made in Italy, original, handmade, exclusive and of great value.
