Heartbeat

A second night dedicated to the vibrant future of Italian jazz unfolds in the Sale Apollinee of La Fenice Opera House, as part of the “Venezia Jazz Festival”. Two cutting-edge ensembles, winners of the Tomorrow’s Jazz Award promoted by Veneto Jazz, take the spotlight: Heartbeat and Vitantonio Gasparro Trio.

The evening opens with Heartbeat, a trio that fuses deep rhythmic exploration with adventurous harmonic textures. Formed by Alessandro Rossi on drums, Michele Bonifati on guitar, and Manuel Caliumi on alto sax, Heartbeat navigates contemporary jazz with an experimental edge. Their sound is marked by unexpected shifts, bold improvisations, and a dynamic interplay that challenges genre boundaries. The trio draws on influences from modern jazz, rock, and avant-garde music, creating a pulsating, emotionally charged experience.

In the second set, the Vitantonio Gasparro Trio brings a unique voice to the Italian jazz landscape. Led by vibraphonist Vitantonio Gasparro, with Antonello Losacco on electric bass and Vito Tenzone on drums, the trio explores the lyrical and percussive potential of the vibraphone. Their compositions are marked by melodic finesse, rhythmic subtlety, and a refined sense of atmosphere. The ensemble’s music balances technical prowess with emotional depth, blending elements of jazz tradition with fresh, contemporary sensibilities.

Together, these two ensembles offer a compelling glimpse into the evolving language of Italian jazz, in a night that celebrates innovation, creativity, and the raw energy of emerging talent.
