On October 5, 2025, the renowned pianist Igor Levit will appear at La Fenice Opera House in a concert presented in collaboration with Musikàmera. His program brings together masterworks by Beethoven, Schumann, and Chopin, offering a journey through some of the most profound pages of the Romantic repertoire.
The evening begins with two contrasting Beethoven sonatas: the graceful Sonata No. 10 in G major, Op. 14 No. 2, with its lyrical elegance and wit, followed by the dramatic Sonata No. 17 in D minor, Op. 31 No. 2, famously nicknamed The Tempest. The program continues with Robert Schumann’s Night Pieces, Op. 23, a series of introspective miniatures that explore the boundary between dream and reality. The recital closes with Chopin’s monumental Sonata No. 3 in B minor, Op. 58, a work of virtuosic brilliance and deep poetry, among the pinnacles of the piano repertoire.
Igor Levit, born in Nizhny Novgorod in 1987 and raised in Germany, is widely acclaimed as one of the foremost pianists of his generation. Known for his intellectual rigor, emotional depth, and technical mastery, he has performed with leading orchestras and in the world’s most prestigious concert halls. His recordings, including the complete Beethoven sonatas and the Goldberg Variations paired with Rzewski’s The People United Will Never Be Defeated!, have won multiple international awards. Beyond the concert stage, Levit is also recognized for his outspoken commitment to social and political causes, making him an artist of conscience as well as brilliance.
