As part of the Symphony Season at Teatro La Fenice, acclaimed conductor Ivor Bolton will lead the Orchestra of Teatro La Fenice in two performances on June 27 and 29, 2025, featuring a refined program of 20th-century wit and Romantic grandeur. Joining the orchestra are soprano Francesca Aspromonte, tenor Antonio Poli, and bass Luca Tittoto.
The evening opens with Igor Stravinsky’s Pulcinella Suite, a vibrant and playful reimagining of 18th-century music by Pergolesi and contemporaries, filtered through Stravinsky’s modernist lens. Its blend of neoclassical elegance and sharp irony creates a witty and engaging soundscape.
The program concludes with Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy’s Scottish Symphony, inspired by the composer’s travels to Scotland. Lyrical and majestic, this symphony evokes landscapes, ruins, and weather, all imbued with Mendelssohn’s trademark melodic brilliance and emotional depth.
Ivor Bolton is a leading figure in the world of opera and symphonic music. Known for his stylistic versatility and deep musical insight, he is Music Director of the Teatro Real in Madrid and enjoys a long-standing collaboration with major European orchestras and opera houses.
Francesca Aspromonte, a rising star of the baroque and classical repertoire, is praised for her expressive voice and stylistic agility.
