Markus Stenz is a German conductor. Since 2012 he has been the principal conductor of the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest in the Netherlands and since the season 2015/16 he has been the principal guest conductor of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Since 2017 he has also been Residential Conductor with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. Previously he was Kapellmeister of the Gürzenich Orchestra in Cologne for eleven years.
He made a name for himself from the very beginning with numerous world premieres, including “Venus and Adonis” at the Bavarian State Opera in 1997 and “L’Upupa und der Triumph der Sohnesliebe” at the Salzburg Festival in 2003. He has appeared in the world’s most important opera houses and international festivals and has performed with renowned orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, as well as the Munich, Berlin and Dresden Philharmonic Orchestras.
