From April 10 to July 27, 2025, “Le Stanze della Fotografia” will host the extraordinary exhibition “Maurizio Galimberti between Polaroid/Ready Made and the American Lessons of Italo Calvino”, curated by Denis Curti.
Internationally renowned for his portraits of iconic figures like Lady Gaga, Robert De Niro, Johnny Depp, and Umberto Eco, Galimberti brings his distinctive Polaroid mosaics to Venice. This exhibition features some of his most celebrated works, including portraits of Johnny Depp, Barbara Bouchet, and Angelica Huston, showcased across six thematic sections: Cenacolo, Storia, Sport, Ritratti, Taylor Swift, and Luoghi.
Galimberti’s creations embody a fragmented, multifaceted vision of reality, where individual images are deconstructed and reassembled like mosaics. Each piece reflects a profound meditation on perception and the multiplicity of viewpoints. His unique technique often involves manipulating Polaroids during the development process by applying pressure with tools such as pens and wooden sticks. These interventions create textured, dynamic compositions that form a spectacular, unified whole.
This exhibition invites visitors to explore Galimberti’s creative process and his interplay of photography and storytelling, drawing inspiration from Italo Calvino’s American Lessons and its themes of multiplicity and imagination.
Don’t miss this opportunity to experience the innovative artistry of Maurizio Galimberti, a master of visual storytelling who redefines the boundaries of Polaroid photography.
