The long-awaited 2025–2026 New Year’s Concerts at Teatro La Fenice are approaching, bringing back one of Venice’s most cherished musical traditions. Now in its twenty-third edition, the event will again feature leading figures of today’s operatic scene: Michele Mariotti will conduct the Orchestra and Chorus of Teatro La Fenice, joined by soprano Rosa Feola and tenor Jonathan Tetelman, with Alfonso Caiani as chorus master.
Four performances will take place in the historic auditorium in Campo San Fantin:
• Monday, December 29, 2025, at 8:00 PM
• Tuesday, December 30, at 5:00 PM
• Wednesday, December 31, at 4:00 PM
• Thursday, January 1, 2026, at 11:15 AM
As per tradition, the concert is divided into two parts, both dedicated this year to the operatic repertoire. The first part highlights symphonies, overtures, and intermezzi, including Rossini’s Semiramide Overture, Bellini’s Norma Prelude, Mascagni’s Ratcliff’s Dream, Puccini’s La Tregenda, Donizetti’s Don Pasquale Overture, and Verdi’s I Vespri Siciliani Symphony.
The second part showcases chorus and soloists in a rich sequence of arias and choral pages: Ponchielli’s “Feste! Pane! Feste!”, Mascagni’s Silvano Barcarolle, Rossini’s “Sombre forêt”, Ponchielli’s “Cielo e mar”, Puccini’s Madame Butterfly closed-mouth chorus and La Bohème duet “O soave fanciulla”, Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana Intermezzo, and three iconic finales—Puccini’s “Nessun dorma”, Bellini’s “Casta diva”, Verdi’s “Va, pensiero”, and the traditional toast “Libiam ne’ lieti calici”.
The second part will be broadcast live on Rai1 on January 1 at 12:20 PM, and later on Rai5; the full January 1 concert will also air on Rai Radio3 at 8:30 PM.
