The 2019 Opera and Ballet Season of the Teatro La Fenice Foundation includes new opera productions, while the ballet program includes great classics and contemporary dance recitals.
After more than thirty-five years of absence from the La Fenice program, “Aida” will return to the now historic setting by Mauro Bolognini revised by Bepi Morassi, starring Roberta Mantegna and Francesco Meli in the Italian debut as Radames.
The season includes the new production of “Luci mie traditrici” by Salvatore Sciarrino; finally, for the Puccini anniversary, “Turandot” will be staged as part of the now historic collaboration with the Biennale Arte. As for the dance, Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo will perform the ballet Romeo and Juliet in the version by the choreographer Jean-Christophe Maillot on music on Sergej Prokofiev.
“Don Giovanni” by Damiano Michieletto completes the program together with the other unmissable productions of the Fenice’s recent history: “La Traviata” signed by Robert Carsen; “Tosca” directed by Serena Sinigaglia; “The Barber of Seville” by Bepi Morassi; “Madama Butterfly” with the scenes and costumes of Mariko Mori and the Rossinian farce “La scala di seta” directed by Bepi Morassi.
