An old miller decides to leave the mill and donkey to the two oldest children and the youngest, having nothing else, leaves the cat … a very special cat because he understands, speaks and reasons.
Here it is if he reasons!
This classic tale is not simply a picaresque tale in which an unlucky young man ticks off the rich and powerful, but a story that suggests how the animal and instinctive part that dwells in each of us has the power to emerge in times of difficulty and change the course of things.
The scene of Marcello Chiarenza is a sloping platform that at the beginning is a windmill mill, and later a castle, cultivated fields, flower gardens. Small hatches reveal unexpected landscapes: pools of water in which a line is thrown for the fishing of giant carp, burrows and other traps for the capture of succulent game that will be given as a gift to the King by the Cat and his unsuspecting master.
Maurizio Casali and Mariolina Coppola stage the story in a sweet and delicate way, with comic situations punctuated by small gags and moments of amazement.
