As part of the “Cycle Bizet, l’oiseau rebelle”, on May 6, 2025, the Palazzetto Bru Zane invites audiences to uncover the lesser-known side of Georges Bizet as a pianist in the concert “Bizet Segreto – Bizet as a Pianist”, performed by the acclaimed pianist Roberto Prosseda.
Though renowned as a composer, Bizet was also an exceptional pianist. However, he avoided the life of a concert performer, preferring to support his peers through collaborative performances. As a founding member of the Société Nationale de Musique, created in 1871 to promote emerging French composers, Bizet played a crucial role in advancing French music. He frequently performed alongside his contemporaries, accompanying or playing four-hand and two-piano works by composers like Massenet, Saint-Saëns, and Lalo.
In this recital, Roberto Prosseda highlights Bizet’s aesthetic legacy and his generation’s reimagining of romantic piano virtuosity. The program will feature works by:
- Georges Bizet
- Louise Farrenc
- Charles Gounod
- Stephen Heller
- Louis Diémer
- Alexandre Guilmant
Prosseda, renowned for his interpretive depth and artistry, brings to life the intricate beauty of this repertoire, offering a rare opportunity to hear Bizet’s pianistic world and the vibrant music of his peers. Don’t miss this extraordinary recital, where the artistry of Roberto Prosseda unveils the secret brilliance of Bizet and his contemporaries.
