A limited edition of just 100 magnums, “Sansonina in Laguna” is more than a wine—it’s a bold, sensorial journey from land to sea. Born from the pioneering vision of Carla Prospero and Nadia Zenato, founders of the Sansonina winery in the southern morainic hills of Lake Garda, this unique Trebbiano di Lugana takes on the essence of the Venetian lagoon.
Crafted from grapes grown on the estate in Peschiera del Garda, the wine is aged first in steel and barrique before beginning its transformative immersion: 16 months beneath the waters of the lagoon, at depths of six to eight meters. There, in the embrace of the sea, the wine matures amid marine currents and temperature fluctuations that shape its complexity and character.
The result is luminous and vibrant, with notes of ripe fruit, aromatic herbs, and a savory, mineral-driven finish. Each magnum is housed in a sculpted oak case reminiscent of sea waves, adorned with handcrafted wax seals by the Fonderia Artistica Veneziana Bortoletti—a tribute to Venetian artistry and maritime tradition.
With “Sansonina in Laguna“, the winery continues its mission to merge innovation and terroir. “We wanted to explore new frontiers, uniting our land with the regenerative power of the sea“, says Nadia Zenato. “It’s a celebration of roots and experimentation“.
From its 13 hectares, Sansonina has always challenged norms, producing iconic white wines like Lugana DOC and standout red wines like Merlot Sansonina—proving that true quality knows no boundaries.
