The exhibition "The Piedmont Pavillon" will be hosted in Combo
a former 12th century convent near Misericordia

Between irony and provocation, until 20th July, “The Piedmont Pavillon” will be hosted in the exclusive Combo space, a project created by the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation and Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art with the support of Compagnia di San Paolo and Piemonte region.

Guido Gozzano, Michelangelo Pistoletto, a 500, “Il Quarto Stato” by Pellizza da Volpedo, Barolo and the Truffle Fair are found in a former Venetian convent. All in a single space, to dialogue with each other representing the territory of origin, Piedmont.

“In an era of globalization and digitalization – the ideamakers Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo and Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev tell us – this “off” exhibition with respect to the Venice Biennale wants to investigate the meaning of identity claims. A bit like a fake news, for not representing a nation, but a region, which plays on humor and the contact between various artistic expressions”.

The Piedmont Pavillon is housed in Combo, a new example of hospitality and cultural environment dedicated to tourists and citizens. A house that puts itself at the service of art, offering private and shared rooms, common spaces, project rooms suitable for hosting galleries and collectives. “Our intent – explains inventor Michele Denegri – is to recover abandoned historic buildings and redevelop them. Here the different cultural expressions can find a home and make themselves fully understandable and usable by everyone”.

The space is located at the Campo dei Gesuiti, in a former 12th century convent a few steps from the Fondazione della Misericordia. A new cultural corner of the city able to attract the various local artistic activities.

Location: Combo, Campo dei Gesuiti, Venice

Opening: until July 20, 2019

Hours: 2 pm – 7 pm / closed on Tuesdays
