From August 29 to September 7, 2025, the stage of Teatro La Fenice will blaze with drama, passion, and power as Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca returns in a striking new production by Fondazione Teatro La Fenice. Conducted by Daniele Rustioni and directed by Joan Anton Rechi, this staging promises to reignite one of opera’s most intense love stories against a backdrop of political turmoil.
Based on Victorien Sardou’s 1887 play and adapted into a libretto by Puccini’s trusted collaborators Giacosa and Illica, Tosca first premiered in 1900. Set in Rome during the Napoleonic invasions, the opera explores themes of love, power, corruption, and sacrifice. With its raw emotional tension and revolutionary musical language—ranging from traditional operatic motifs to modernist anticipations—Tosca remains a cornerstone of the repertory.
Chiara Isotton takes the title role of Floria Tosca, joined by Riccardo Massi as the impassioned painter Mario Cavaradossi and Roberto Frontali as the chilling Baron Scarpia. They are supported by a strong cast including Mattia Denti (Angelotti), Matteo Peirone (Sacristan), Cristiano Olivieri (Spoletta), Matteo Ferrara (Sciarrone), and Emanuele Pedrini and Carlo Agostini alternating as the Jailer.
Featuring the Orchestra and Chorus of Teatro La Fenice, the Piccoli Cantori Veneziani, Chorus Master Alfonso Caiani, and Children’s Chorus Master Diana D’Alessio, this production of Tosca offers audiences an unforgettable operatic experience—both timeless and intensely relevant.
Don’t miss this thrilling encounter with Puccini’s masterpiece in one of the world’s most iconic opera houses.
