On Sunday, October 19, 2025, Venice will once again become the stage for the Veleziana, the regatta that combines the thrill of open-sea sailing with the magic of arriving in St. Mark’s Basin, in the very heart of the city.
Now in its 18th edition, the Veleziana is organized by Compagnia della Vela, in collaboration with Vento di Venezia, Diporto Velico Veneziano, and Yacht Club Cortina d’Ampezzo. It is the only regatta in the world that begins at sea—in front of the Venice Lido—and finishes inside the city, with the finish line set before the Doge’s Palace.
The course presents unique challenges: competitors must adapt quickly to the transition from the sea to the lagoon, navigating narrow passages, shifting winds, and strong currents. After the offshore start near the San Nicoletto inlet, boats head toward the lagoon, leaving Sant’Andrea Fort to starboard, circling past the Sant’Elena Gardens, and finally unfurling their sails in the breathtaking amphitheater of St. Mark’s Basin.
The spectacle is unforgettable: Maxi Yachts duel for line honors while smaller boats compete with equal passion, all writing new pages in the regatta’s history. Open to both seasoned professionals and passionate amateurs, the Veleziana is not only a race but a great celebration of sailing, born 18 years ago to bring together all who love the sea.
Once again, the sails of every color will transform Venice into the beating heart of the Adriatic sailing scene.
