The Venice Marathon is one of the most famous and important marathons in the world. It is also one of the most suggestive marathons that crosses the magnificent landscapes of the Venetian countryside and then arrives in the picturesque Venice.
Like every Olympic marathon, the main route is 42.195 km long. It starts from the beautiful Villa Pisani in Strà, 25 km from Venice to arrive in St. Mark’s Square, through a bridge of boats built for the occasion, and then continue along the Riva degli Schiavoni where the finish line is located.
Usually the Venice Marathon takes place on the fourth Sunday of October and this year it will be the 25th October 2020.
The marathon must be finished in about six hours and every 5 km it will be possible to refresh yourself in some refreshment points.
In addition to a simple marathon, for many passionate athletes from all over the world, the Venice Marathon is also synonymous with “meeting point” in Venice, a city that for centuries has been an important crossroads of cultures. In fact, the event hosts thousands of people every year and is very popular because it is internationally recognized by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and for the fascinating route, unique of its kind.
