Returning for its ninth edition, Women For Freedom in Jazz lights up Venice this July with three unforgettable evenings of music, solidarity, and female empowerment. Hosted on the panoramic terrace of the Hotel Carlton on the Grand Canal, this concert and fundraising marathon supports the humanitarian organization Women for Freedom, giving voice to women in vulnerable conditions around the world.
Over the years, more than €35,000 has been raised for the cause. This year, the series—curated by Elena Ferrarese and supported by Paola Cori, in collaboration with the Bacàn Association—welcomes an exciting lineup of women artists whose music crosses genres, geographies, and generations.
- Monday, July 7 – Dòni
The all-female trio (Anna Cavedon, Martina Ghibellini, Silvia Balzarin) presents Voci di donna, a performance weaving voices, toy instruments, and unconventional sounds into a rich tapestry of feminine stories, inspired by past and contemporary female songwriters. - Monday, July 14 – CU
Valentina Fin and Marco Centasso explore jazz with CU, a duo balancing tradition and innovation. Their dynamic interplay of voice, double bass, and electronics creates a fluid, experimental sound inspired by icons like Carla Bley and Abbie Lincoln. - Monday, July 21 – Sarra Douik
Closing the series is Tunisian singer and oud player Sarra Douik, whose blend of Mediterranean roots and global collaborations offers a deeply personal and transcendent musical experience.
Women For Freedom in Jazz invites you to listen, support, and celebrate the power of women’s voices—on stage and beyond.
