The contemporary opera for children “Acquaprofonda” will be staged at the Malibran theater from 27 to 29 April 2023. The 1813 Orchestra of the Teatro Sociale di Como is conducted by Riccardo Bisatti and directed by Luis Ernesto Doñas.
“Acquaprofonda” (Deep Water) is a short opera for children with music by Giovanni Sollima based on a libretto by Giancarlo De Cataldo, commissioned by the Teatro Sociale di Como in co-production with the Rome Opera, where it debuted in December 2021. The highly topical issue of water pollution is addressed. A beach, a humble cabin, a large factory: the daily life of Serena, her father (guardian of the factory), and Master Bu, the owner of the factory, is disrupted by the arrival of a gigantic sea creature: a sick whale. Thanks to the friendly Old Sailor, Serena will be able to convince her father to act correctly, and help the Whale get rid of the plastic in its belly, returning to Master Bu the polluting waste from his business.
