Alexander Lonquich

Alexander Lonquich is engaged in the double role of conductor and soloist on the piano. He will perform the Concerto for piano and orchestra n. 22 in E flat major, kv 482 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the Symphony n. 9 in C major D 944 Grande by Franz Schubert.

Alexander Lonquich is a German classical pianist and conductor. At the age of 16 he won the first prize at the “Alessandro Casagrande International Piano Competition” in Terni. Afterwards he began an intense international concert career as a soloist and chamber music partner and played under the direction of conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Heinz Holliger, Ton Koopman, Emmanuel Krivine, Mark Minkowski, Kurt Sanderling and Sándor Végh, obtaining numerous awards from international critics such as the “Diapason d’Or”, the “Premio Abbiati” (as best soloist of 2016) and the “Premio Edison” in Holland.

With his wife Cristina Barbuti they form a piano duo that has performed in Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Norway and the USA. In addition to his numerous concert engagements, Alexander Lonquich has worked intensively over the years in the teaching field, holding masterclasses all over the world.
