The 60th International Art Exhibition, curated by Adriano Pedrosa and titled “Stranieri Ovunque – Foreigners Everywhere“, promises a celebration of global diversity and artistic expression. Scheduled from April 20 to November 24, 2024, the exhibition will unfold across Venice’s Giardini, the Arsenale, and various other locations.
At the heart of this showcase lies the focus on artists who embody the identity of foreigners, immigrants, expatriates, diasporic, émigrés, exiles, and refugees. The exhibition aims to spotlight their works, particularly those traversing between the global South and North. These artists’ productions form the Contemporary Core of the Biennale Arte, emphasizing their narratives, perspectives, and artistic contributions.
Complementing this Contemporary Core is a Historical Core featuring 20th-century artworks from Latin America, Africa, Asia, and the Arab world. These pieces add depth to the narrative, offering historical context and richness to the exhibition’s exploration of global art.
Curator Adriano Pedrosa expresses the essence of this exhibition as a celebration of the foreign, distant, outsider, queer, and indigenous voices. The Biennale Arte has always been a platform for artists worldwide, showcasing a diverse array of perspectives and artistic visions. In 2024, the event pledges to elevate these voices, welcoming and celebrating their unique stories and artistic expressions in Venice.
The 60th International Art Exhibition promises to be a vibrant tribute to the richness of global artistic diversity, fostering dialogue, understanding, and appreciation for the multifaceted narratives woven by artists from across the world.
