Under the direction of Stefano Ricci and Gianni Forte, the 50. International Theatre Festival will take place from June 24 to July 3, 2022. After the last edition titled “blue”, this year the Biennale Teatro 2022 will be titled “ROT” (red in German).
The title refers to the “ROT therapies”, non-pharmacological treatments, consisting in revitalizing an interest in Alzheimer’s patients and war veterans to engage with others and re-orienting the confused patient in time and in relation to their own history. Starting precisely from this rehabilitative intervention – ROT – and its countless variations, the Biennale Teatro 2022 seeks to trace the thread of the times we live in, and illuminate the tremors of a humanity that needs to invent new forms of life through cultural transfusion.
The program includes shows and appointments with the most important protagonists of the contemporary theatre scene, as well as the productions realized within the framework of the Biennale College Teatro, the training project dedicated to young artists.
Authors and directors Stefano Ricci and Gianni Forte trained at the Silvio d’Amico National Academy of Dramatic Art with Luca Ronconi and at New York University with Edward Albee, founding the eponymous ensemble in 2005. Among their awards: Hystrio, Vallecorsi, Fondi-La Pastora, Studio 12, Oddone Cappellin for dramaturgy, and the Premio Gibellina/Salvo Randone for direction.
