To mark the bicentennial of the death of the great sculptor Antonio Canova, the Correr Museum celebrates the artist with an exhibition of photographs by Fabio Zonta.
The Bassano photographer presents Canova’s marbles in a whole new light through the contemporary lens of his extraordinary photographs. The stylistic form of Zonta’s photography originates from the still-life practice that ranges across subjects and forms, immortalizing beauties of both nature in its many forms, and art and sculpture.
Curated by Andrea Bellieni and Camilla Grimaldi and produced by the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia with the support of the Venice International Foundation, the exhibition titled “CANOVA AND VENICE 1822-2022” is open to the public until Feb. 5, 2023.
Alongside the works of the Venetian sculptor, a wide selection of medals related to the artist’s figure, work and memory is on display at the Museo Correr until February 26, 2023, curated by Leonardo Mezzaroba and Cristina Crisafulli.
