For the cycle “The World of César Franck (1822-1890)” the concert “Debutti in Trio” (Youthful piano trios) will be held on April 2, 2022 at the Palazzetto Bru Zane. In collaboration with the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, works by Franck and Chaminade will be performed by violinist Anna Egholm, cellist Ari Evan and pianist Frank Braley.
César Franck made his entry into the musical world of his time with the publication in 1843 of his Three Trios op. 1. These pieces were for him the opportunity to demonstrate the extent of his craftsmanship, as well as his ability to structure and treat their harmony in a variety of ways. Under the joint tutelage of Beethoven and Schubert, these pieces, which mainly showcase the pianist, appealed in particular to Franz Liszt, who ensured their circulation in Germany. Nearly forty years later (February 1880), Cécile Chaminade also made her debut as a composer with a piano trio, at the Salle Érard, revealing a personal, ambitious style based on classical forms while giving free rein to the pianist’s virtuosity.
